ISOM 4 Day 1 (Indonesian Series of Motorsports round 4) - Official Practice

Friday - 9th Sept 2011


we ordered the FULL Gasket Set, from Singapore and because the race is moved forward ahead of schedule, we had to rush the supplier to send it ASAP. turned out they give us 1 wrong gasket... everything in the gasket kit box is for m20B25, EXCEPT for the HEAD GASKET... the gasket they give us is for m20b20 which has 80mm bore instead of 84mm... and due to the 1 week of ramadan holiday, the items arrived 1 day before the official practice... we don't have time to return and wait for another shipment...



the piston ring that we ordered cannot arrive in time, so we try to source whatever leftover parts we have in the workshop from m50, m52, and m20 which use 84mm piston...



we decided to reuse the old gasket... and hope the water didn't leak

lucky the radiator is complete in time



the car will not start, when the shell is being painted, we strip all the wires and we suspect its due to wiring problem, and the wiring guy is not back from holiday... so we spend more time sorting it out. turn out the starter motor is not working. no time to source new one, so we push start the car...




nearing the official practice time, which starts at 12pm Friday, we finish the build 6am... but when we test the car, its blowing alot of smoke... we suspect is from the dodgy leftover piston ring... we didn't want to risk it so we tow the car to Sentul, and decided not to do the practice. we tow it there just so the scrutineering people can do their routine pre race check



we got there just in time before the last scurtineer went home...

after the scrutineer, we rush back to the workshop to continue our work... we have to disassemble everything and rebuild the engine again. Indra make some call and manages to score M20B25 head gasket, and brand new piston rings... at very high price almost triple. some people call you a friend... but when you are in trouble, they actually hit you hard... some people... but anyway, the important thing is we got the required stuff now

me and indra drove back in his X5 while shirosame is being towed back to tekno tuner...

due to traffic jam, jakarta friday night traffic is BAD!, we shared the burden... i steer with my leg, and indra accelerate and brake with his leg... this way we both can lie back and relax... hahahaha

thanks to Posma, for his sponsorship in towing using his PAG tow car service... shirosame is being towed back to Tekno tuner for another overnight rebuild...
