Phillip Island - PB 1:56.34s

Back from Phillip Island, the best track i have ever been. its my first time there and i dont think i will forget this. till now, i still remember clearly what i saw and felt; blistering fast corner speed, smooth wide tracks, grand view passing the main straight, the highly respectable attitude from most of the driver on the day, and having to concentrate 110% all the time. I just cannot wait to go back there and have another go.

My Official PB on the day was 1:56.34s 11th place in my Class and 27th Place Overall out of 111 entry cars on the day.

Mods: BC full exhaust, Motordyne Plenum Spacer, test pipe, 168kw atw.
Tyres: RE55s 245/40/18

EXE Dyno Day - Pro-tek Automotive

20th September 2008

Dyno'ed the car for a second time since stock, this time with the addition of the plenum spacer.

Result: 168.2 rwkW
Specs: 2003 350Z | 206kW VQ35DE | K&N Pod Filter in Custom Stock Box | Motordyne Intake Plenum Spacer | BuddyClub Full Exhaust | Megan Racing Test Pipe.

Current Power-Torque --------------------------- Power-AFR -
 -----------

For comparison, here are the old graph taken back in Oct 2006 with K&N Pod Filter Only.

- Power-Torque --------------------------- Power-AFR -
 -----------

i overlayed my current setup, my near stock setup, and kenny's one in comparison.

- Power Gain at the top end as expected.
- the Tourque curve shows good increase from mid range to top end (compared to the past one which tapered off up top)
- the torque figure on the old graph is alot lower might due to me running a heavier wheels and grippier tyres? i dunno, but that seems abit low in comparison to the current setup.
- Yellow Curve = i move the old torque curve up just to compare the 'curve' / 'shape' of the torque with the new one.
- i always wanted the 221kw rev up model (kennys Engine) which rev higher 7000rpm, but didnt have enough budget to buy the newer 350z. so im hoping to get close to its performance by bolt on mods. and maybe if i reflash the ecu to make it rev to 7000, i should make abit more power.
- comparing the torgue curve between 2003 206kw 350z and 2006 221kw 350z, the 206kw VQ35DE seems to hit the peak torque earlier and higher then tapered off which explain the struggle up top. the 221kw VQ35DE reach the peak torque at higher rpm, altho abit lower than 206kw model, it doesnt fall off at high rpm as much. which probably caused my the rev up engine being able to breathe easier up top.

conclusion: its not a massive increase of outright KW for the amount of work, which i am aware of when choosing NA car over a turbo one. but the response is something that i sought after more than max kw (altho of course i could do with more kw Razz )

performance wise, my next step would be tune. for other the things: more camber, lower the gear ratios, and loose some weight Razz
