TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 4 of 4
i am flying back to jakarta from lombok. tonight will be the testing night, first time i drove my greatly missed E30 since December 2010... looking forward to it... my plane will land around 11:30pm
meanwhile at Tekno tuner...
the engine is fully assembled, now the gearbox, while swapping the gearbox, Tekno Tuner found another flaw from previous workshop...
pilot bearing is missing!
the flywheel appeared to be heavily lightened which cause too much torque loss, in the end we swap it to flat type.
the dyno result before the AFR adjustment is 232hp with new softer valve spring and header...
indra has the other prints after the AFR adjustment of 238hp, but i forgot to get it off him... more than i expected from M20B29...

TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 3 of 4
TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 3 of 4
more problems, the previous workshop somehow didnt shave the piston like i requested... the piston was out of the block liner by 1.3mm! with 2mm gasket thats only 0.7mm clearance... hmmmm so indra made thicker gasket for me to made 1.6mm clearance.
Head installed...
valve train and dbilas 284 camshaft installed
all assembled except the rocker cover.... to be tested for naked run...

TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 2 of 4
TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 2 of 4
the car without the head is being sent to 'Budi Knalpot' to have custom header done
making the collector
longer straighter initial scavenge primary
im a happy man
the tip
meanwhile back in Tekno Tuner, Indra also advised me that the rocker arm is grinded by previous workshop... we didnt have time to source for replacement at that time, so we decided to use softer spring to avoid the rocker arm broke
so all the dbilas springs are replaced with more suitable spring for my lower rev applications. Tekno Spring was made from Kode Steel, suitable for up to 8000rpm...

TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 1 of 4
TEKNO TUNER:: DAY 1 of 4
its 23rd of May, the Official Race is Friday - Sunday (27th, 28th, 29th May 2011)... time is ticking...
the rough engine sound from previous build... before Tekno Tuner handle it...
Link
i am not happy with the way the engine sounds, so i asked TEKNO TUNER as 3rd party to do a pre-race confirmation check
i am at bali during this time, shooting Tugu Hotel, and indra has been very informative and helpful in everything and answering all my questions. he call me every hour or two to confirm with me before making any changes and he is a perfectionist when it comes to engine.... after spent hours talking to him i am ready to let him handle my engine...
what i normally get from the past indonesian tuner is "leave it to us! no need to ask too many questions as we know what we are doing...." or "if you don't trust us bring it somewhere else"... i was abit shock with these mentality but i had no other choices as i have limited contacts in jakarta...
but what i hear from Indra Santoso from Tekno Tuner was "what do you want from this engine? what are your needs? what else do you want to know? have i answered your questions". i was pleased and very confident all of sudden... after 6 months wait, and after 3 workshop changes for the past 2 years, i think i finally found my ideal tuner... someone who are open for discussion, and able to give calculation to back up his theory... a proper engine builder/tuner...
first, i ask Indra to dyno the engine before he touch it. i was shocked by the poor result... the inital M20B25 2500cc was 167HP and now with 2900cc M20B29, it only made 200hp... with flat spot on the curve.... i am furious....
i asked indra to open the head and not to open the bottom end because i am afraid there won't be enough time
first mistake that Tekno Tuner found was: after the intake port was enlarged, ported and polish, the gasket that was put in between is still original size *smack head*
inspecting the condition and the quality of the head work
what has past is the past, so i will spend time moving forward rather than hassling about the bad past...
indra also found that the gearbox still crunching on 2nd and 3rd, he replaced mine with one of his spare box...

Last Days at Riverside
i am not happy delay after delay.... i got news that the car wont be done before the round 2 of ISOM... i already miss the 1st round! i cannot do anything else apart from waiting... and then the answer from God came along...
Mr. Indra Santoso from Tekno Tuner has offered full engine support to complete the car before the race.... he will do final inspections of the car for me... all he ask is 4 days....
so i crunch and push Riverside to finish their parts and gave deadline on 21st of May 2011... finish or not, the car has to be moved to Tekno Tuner
realigning the front E36 suspension by modifying the chasis rail mount. Thanks to Gerry Nasution for this brilliant Solution!!!!! ur my hero!
rear strut mount reinforcement
tyre well cutout welded shut
Battery relocation bracket

The ZF LSD that was installed by CAD & RMC was not shimmed properly, causing the pinion grinding the LSD unit! oh dear.... lucky i asked for it to be re-inspected....
need to find the right coupling for the oil cooler hose
Brake Duct still not done *smack head*
at least oil cooler is installed

thinking of deleting the Visco Fan and replace it with one of these 2 fan...
