so the engine was gonna be rebuild but then they couldnt save the corroded head. they did tried, re weld and reshaped it but just made it worse and worse...
the car was back from the workshop only to find cappucino in my oil dipstick... the coolant still mixed into the oil...
so we decided to source the replacement engine and the wrecked car has finally arrived... an M111.960 engine with 80,000km... clean and ran smooth... no sing of corrosion and it still run even when i went to pick it up with dad from the storage...
so now, this should get the merc back alive... plus we got alot of spares now: gearbox, alternator, clutch, flywheel, AC comp, Radiator, hoses, harness, power steering pump, etc...
will update later when the car is back. next step is to fix all the worn bushing and fix the interior wiring. it has head unit, but only has one working speaker... poor dad...

When enough is enough...
i was gonna convert the box to manual early March but there was some problems with the manual box that i got. the car when i bought came with 2 box. the auto is on the car and the manual is off the car (its been converted from manual to auto from the previous owner). well basically the manual box has broken 2nd gear and synchro.
well on the way back from Bandung, to Jakarta, around 100km trip 2 weeks ago, i saw from my mirrors, big white smokes from the back of my car. i thought something wrong with the engine.... so i pulled over. i looked under the car and the auto trans fluid is leaking badly, dripping on my exhaust pipe and got burnt... here is the pic of the black past of the exhaust where the fluid from the autobox dripped...
ok, i didnt remember abusing it too badly apart from occasional night practice during the rain
so then RDM workshop managed to source me another manual box, but it has bad 4th and cant get into reverse. so i bought that and ask them to mix and match the internals gears with my other manual box with a broken 2nd gear.
so the conversion begin.
the tail shaft have to be extended coz the manual box in shorter.
i dunno whether this welding will last a lifetime, but only one way to find out... this is because i couldn't source the manual tail shaft.
the Shifter is being installed and aligned.
they gave me the clutch system and the pedals replacement too... old and ugly but works...
the manual box is one the car.
Couldnt find a stock gear knob, so RDM throw in this free, carbon fibre knob for some 'serious' weight reduction... after all this surely will make me shift faster right?
Came accross this white ATEV 17x7.5 2nd wheels for sale cheap... less than $200 a set. but after closer inspection 2 of them badly bent... so no go...
it turns out that the main bearing seal on the input shaft of the autobox is badly leaking...
my torque converter is burnt/toasted because of low trans fluid... my auto gearbox leaking when i was 82km from jakarta, so i kept on driving and i guess that breaks this parts...
one of the sensor clip also hanging by a thread.
and the metal clip that supposed to be here is gone... i dunno where it went...
the only good news is the auto box fits in my boot. will try to sell this if anyone want wrecked autobox lol...
oh, and i painted the BMW nose grill (2 chrome square frames) matte black. i dunno why i did that... but i think i just gained another 5kw
Observation:
the the M20 engine + manual box is a whole different drive compared to the auto. i knew it would be better but i was surprised how much better it was... the 4 speed auto was so shit that it will only do good when i am stuck in the traffic... the car now revs faster, goes harder and pulls till the end of the rev range... i think i should've save more on fuel, but for some reason due to driving style i think i waste more fuel now

battery wont charge. could be the alternator. then water leaks and bloody turbo civic :)
been extremely busy and been travelling... so havent really use my car for 2 weeks... then last wednesday i bring it out to meet my friends' sleeper civic who just recently got turboed... well... not so sleeper coz he havent paint the cooler black...
sorry for the bad picture. didnt bring camera, so i used my shitty camera phone...
when the car gone mental :S
anyway, the next night, i saw my battery light on... so i thought the battery maybe low... so i drove around hoping that it will get charged...
but in fact, the light become dimmer and dimmer... until at one stage my car just stall... so i think that wont be the battery...
when i try starting the car again it would start... but then after a while i will ran out of puff again... so i think its running straight from the battery o_O
i dont think the alternator is working...
i confirmed by turning the car on once more, and pull the negative terminal. the car shut off... i read it in bimmer forum somewhere... which mean the alternator is not charging... i could be wrong here... but i ended up pushing my car with my bro for about 2km... LOL... lucky we almost home...
removing the alternator
i decided to pull the alternator out today. also my excuse to buy 2 jack stands and mini trolley jack that small enough to be a die cast model... lol... see green/grey box...
i started with removing the battery terminal and replacing the broken fuse... only found one broke fuse...
and my humble servant, aka my little brother is being my cheap asian labour today... lol... thx bro
first i had to loosen the belt tensioner. its the big 19mm bolt at the front...
i can actually see the volt stabilizer, which is common fault on old E30. i will remove this after i remove the whole alternator just to be safe... i need to check them both anyway
im surprised only 2 bolts holding the alternator. but this 2nd bolt is a bitch to reach.... also the AC compressor belt blocking it makes it harder to use ratchet...
now the alternator is loose, but the pod filter and AFM is in the way... so im removing them both too...
and 2 wire connector bolts behind the alternator
now pulling the bitch out! >_<
hmmm after careful inspections... i conclude that the alternator looks like... an alternator!?!
spotting the voltage stabiliser. yes my eyes shoots red arrow...
2 screw holding it in place being removed...
hmmm the wear for both metal contact looks fine too me... i guess i have to get this and the alternator checked...
inside the alternator, i checked the contact patch.... it seems the rear contact has showed some misalignment... see the lip has worn abit.... but this could be nothing...
will continue this write up once i got the alternator back from the workshop.
flooded
after recent rainy days, i might've left my car outside abit too long. i found some... ok... ALOT of water deposit in the left corner of the boot.
(T__T) oh my... i can wash my car with that much water...
soak it all with cloth...
put it in little nice pink bucket
will have to drill a hole there for the water drain LOL... but when jakarta is flooded again, i think water will enter from there...
