REBORN in 15hours!

REBORN in 15hours! 


me and indra was trying to keep our spirit up and kept on trying...


saw this on the way back and i felt like joining them... so carefree and problem free


due to the rare M44B19 85.5mm piston that i use, there is no way that we can get replacement parts urgently... we decided to make a new engine completely and salvage what we can from the first engine... this time is M20B28 instead of M20B29
 


the car arrived at tekno tuner around 7pm
  


kept on working the whole night
     

by Midnight, the engine is up to this 60%...


before i fell asleep at 3am...


when i woke up around 7am

and finally the engine starts for the first time at 8am

and we arrived at sentul around 10.45am due to bad traffic jam, we got 1 hour to do final testing of the engine... then we went straight to the 1st race on 11:40am!

Qualifying Day (QTT)

all tekno tuner guys went to sleep, Loqy from Riverside sent one of his electrician, because the rear 3rd brake lights was removed from my car and not being put back in...

so i helped until 3am before falling asleep... i slept for 4 hours woke up 7am, i drove by myself to my friend's garage, Posma @ PAG, to borrow his fire extinguisher... thank you for this bro... really appreciate it! and drove straight to sentul....

QTT 1 @ 10:20am for BMW Race
QTT 2 @ 11:40am for Super Touring

massive traffic jam on the way and i managed to get to sentul around 10:15am.... spent 5 minutes lowering the tyre pressure to 28psi cold and went straight in....

i followed one of my idol, Gerry Nasution... a year ago all i can do was just reading about him and admiring him and his achievement from articles... and now i am driving with him... i felt like i am dreaming...

we drove together...
i got 1:59 for warming up the tyres
1:57 for 2nd lap...
2 lap of 1:56
and then 1:55...

but the lap after that i blew the engine.... i was still driving it 80%... as i only been to sentul 2 times before when my car was stock and my car never lasted more than 8 laps each (clutch problem 2:08s and gearbox problem 2:06s).... so i was paranoid...


i have to settle with 1:55s @ sentul on 1st time out and miss the 2nd QTT on 11.40am... but now i am worried about the engine...



i call indra santoso from Tekno Tuner and said "if you can make me another engine tonight, i can win tomorrow"

so he rushed to sentul and inspected the engine...

turned out his prediction was right, the rocker arm that was grinded by previous workshop broke... the valve shoot of and collide with the piston number 4 and fused... and the intake port that was ported abit too close by previous workshop cracked and caused the water to enter the combustion chamber...

left normal rocker arm, right is the grinded rocker arm... the previous workshop excuse was "to avoid hitting the valve"... wtf! i know other people with the same engine and setup with mine and they are fine without grinding the rocker arm! &#$#@$^#@^$@#@$&!!!



so we remove the head, then rushed back to tekno tuner's workshop to start working on the rebuild while the car stayed back to wait for towing from PAG.

Semis, Wheel Alignment & Official Practice day
we managed to fix the car by 11am and rushed into the tyre shop by 12pm... we have missed the first practice slot at 11am...

all the mechanics: agus, bambang, donny, fell asleep after working the whole night...


At michael kartono's place 'gallery ban' to fit fresh SX1 and do wheel alignment...





we didn't pass the scrutineering coz we forgot 2 simple stuff: fire extinguisher and 3rd brake light. so we are not allowed to go on the track for practice


we beg and beg, and promised we will get both fire extinguisher and 3rd brake light by tomorrow qualifying day.... and in the end, one of the official let us have 1 lap... just 1 lap, after everyone has gone home.... i rushed into the track not realising the tyre pressure still 40psi at the right front and 35psi on the others.... the car plunged straight into gravel pit after 210kmh top speed at the main straight... i locked my tyres creating huge flat spot on my front right tyres and bent my right tier rod


we drove the car home, passing thru heavy traffic jam for 2 hours and have a nice dinner with the team...

just hours from the official practice at sentul (27th May 2011 11am and 3pm), i landed 11:30pm... indra picked me up from the airport and we head to KFC near his place...

my E30 was brought to the meeting place, to be tested by me... i tested it and i loved what i drove! felt so wild and alive... plenty of grunt across the rev range, power output also is a big plus... KW suspension setup is not final but more than my old MUZE re-valved and hardened strut with SACH spring

and afterward, at around 3am indra wanted to do few final test drive to see how the car was, im seating on a passenger seat. a motorbike out of nowhere cut us off and we hit the barrier fence and the car was tipped on its side... we rocked the car back on its feet from inside the car hahahaha


i tap his head and said, "don't worry.... lets fix this car now... we can still make it... at least 3pm practice if we miss the 11am one"

now inspecting the damage:

the oil pan cracked due to the impact with the kerb... indra has a spare


front panel damaged and oil cooler is bent but not leaking, luckily...


left front guard is damaged due to the roll, the car was rested on a fence pole on this side...


this side took the first impact... the wheel is slightly bent and the fender was scraped...


the lower control arm is bent the steering rod too, the wheel moved back few cm scrubbing the wheel arch


swaybar mount ripped off too... i found the whiteline front swaybar bushing about 20 meters from the impact place...


we rushed the car back to one of his bodywork shed to be fixed... with only hours to the practice time and we still have to go to Gallery Ban to do the tyre fitting and wheel alignment...
