EXE-Crew (Shaun Chiew) Winton Trackday 21st November 2010

EXE-Crew (Shaun Chiew) Winton Trackday 21st November 2010

2 days nonstop preparation after i landed from 7 hours flight, and only 2 hours sleep in total, plus 2 hours drive up to benalla, winton raceway... all that was well worth the long awaited 'winton fix' that i have been craving since May 2010... especially this time i will be back on RWD cars since nov 2008, which ended my 350z track journey.

my eyes got teary and happiness was indescribable on my first slide / oversteer / counter steer... and the 2nd... and so on... got i love the feeling of being fluid on the corner... i miss it. yes i admit i have been doing some trackday back in indonesia but Sentul circuit is more of high speed, braking and consistency like Sandown circuit if i have to find a comparable one in melbourne. but Winton is the whole other league... its technicality is hard to match... pity the tarmac degradation and lack of smooth ripple strip still hasn't been improved since the last 2 years i have been inactive...

anyway first, here are the best lap video:

1:55.3790
1:52.1610
1:52.0180

Session 6: 30psi hot F&R, Wing OFF, rear swaybar off, coilover damper softest all 4

1:54.8270
1:56.4450
1:56.9640

my personal best on the day was 1:51.2400... so i am still 1 second off my target / estimation of 1:50s... heck even my 1.3lt micra is still faster than this E30 at the moment... it is not the car for that i am sure... i just need to feed the throttle slower and smoother... better driving will be my next move...

the rest of the participants Personal Best:
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?21/11/2010.WIN.S1

being no LSD and stiff rear, the inner rear tyres always smokes up every corner... and that is due to either me trail braking or planting the throttle too early and too much...

i am starting to get the hang of it by session 3 and 4, however the street tyres start giving up towards the end of the day... will save up and invest on better rubber on the future.

the car at the moment is very front heavy. it is already was from factory and me stripping it made it worse Razz, but i need the weight saving to get better power to weight ratio... the weight of the car stock was 1280kg and making around 125kw at the flywheel from factory when new... lets say now just around 120kw left, thats 9.375kw/100kg... i managed to strip around 57kg (17kg tar, 20kg seats, 15kg spare tyres, 5kg door trim and others) thats around 1223kg atm... 9.812kw/100kg Very Happy not bad

now removing the rear swaybar helped the rear outer trailing arm to drop and adding grip on the corner... since the big brake at the front made the car dip even more under hard braking, lifting the rear and kick the tail out on the corner entry...

the wing helps abit, but the most significance place was the left sweeper... it really help settle the rear altho i think i could do with more angle of the wing... redrill the mount for next time! Very Happy

the tyre pressure with these 225/45/17 are best with 30psi for me... i could be very wrong but i think it gives me plenty more grip at the rear and higher mid corner speed...

these are the photos, thank you for Christophe Delcourt (Dens), Vyets, and Daniel Chin-Wee (c2888):

RIVERSIDE RACING TEAM

RIVERSIDE has been very kind and supportive to me and my car. i never once felt looked down with my old rust box and he is open to discussion all the time.

so i offered to design the logo for the RIVERSIDE racing team...

here are the logo of the Riverside Rally Team:

which is already simple and effective.

now for the racing team, we need more flowing lines on it so i think the 'S' can be altered abit...

few slight color alternatives:

lets hope that its suitable and turn into the real deal hahaha... *finger crossed*

photoshopped on a some random old car that we never heard of Razz

Clutch Pedal went to the floor

Clutch Pedal went to the floor

same thing that happened to my Bimmo last time... i was stuck on 30min traffic jam INSIDE KGM car park! yes! INSIDE! bloody hell!... and then the clutch pedal wont go back up...

it was saturday night and it was busy packed... i had to jack up the car and see the few drips of fluid coming out of the clutch release hose... and i quickly tape it up with duck tape and try pumping the clutch pedal and it was all back to normal... need to replace the clutch slave hose tho...
